Sustainability
Sustainability is not a marketing term for us. It is how we run our facility every day. Here is what we actually do.
Energy-Efficient Processing
We use low-temperature drying technology in our Gujarat facility. This preserves the flavor, color, and nutrients in our dehydrated vegetables and spices while using significantly less energy than traditional high-heat methods. Our production line is designed to minimize waste at every stage.
Solar Energy at Our Facility
Gujarat receives over 300 days of sunlight per year, and we put that to use. Our Mahuva facility uses rooftop solar panels to supplement the energy required for lighting, ventilation, and auxiliary equipment across the plant. Solar energy reduces our dependence on grid electricity during peak production months — particularly during the onion and garlic dehydration season from November through March. We are gradually increasing solar capacity as we expand production lines, with the goal of covering a larger share of our total energy consumption in the coming years.
Water Management and Recycling
Water is essential at multiple stages of our process — from washing raw onions, garlic, and ginger to cleaning equipment between batches. We have implemented a water recycling system that treats and reuses wash water for non-contact applications such as floor cleaning and equipment cooling. Our cleaning protocols are designed to use measured quantities rather than continuous flow, which has reduced overall water consumption at the facility. In a region like Saurashtra where water availability can be seasonal, responsible water use is not optional — it is a necessity we take seriously.
Local Sourcing, Shorter Supply Chain
We source raw materials from farms within 100 km of our facility in Mahuva, Gujarat. This supports local farming communities, ensures freshness, and reduces the carbon footprint of transportation. We buy seasonal produce directly from farmers, cutting out unnecessary middlemen.
Supporting Local Farming Communities
Our facility provides a reliable market for smallholder farmers in the Bhavnagar and Amreli districts who grow onion, garlic, red chilli, and other vegetables. By purchasing directly at harvest time, we help farmers avoid the price volatility of open mandis. Many of the farmers we work with have been supplying to us for years, and we maintain consistent buying relationships across seasons. This stability allows them to plan their cultivation with more confidence. We also work with local agricultural cooperatives to source produce, which helps distribute economic benefits more broadly across the farming community.
Biodegradable and Responsible Packaging
We offer recyclable Kraft paper bags alongside standard HDPE packaging. For buyers with specific sustainability requirements, we can supply products in biodegradable inner liners and outer packaging made from recycled materials. We optimize pack sizes for shipping efficiency and avoid unnecessary over-packaging — a 20 kg bag that fits neatly into a container is better for the environment than excess filler material. If your market requires specific eco-friendly packaging certifications, our team can work with you to find a solution that meets both regulatory and sustainability goals.
What We Are Working On
We are expanding our solar capacity, improving water treatment efficiency, and exploring partnerships with packaging suppliers who specialize in compostable materials suitable for food-grade use. Sustainability is a continuing effort, not a checkbox. If sustainability is a priority for your business, we are happy to discuss how our current practices align with your sourcing standards and what we can do to meet your specific requirements.
